Text Box:                                                    loyd’s  presentation begins with a live demonstration of his unique way of             creating  painting.    His method of developing an image by means of “erasing” rather than drawing is always amazing.  It is truly incredible to watch a simple shape quickly become a work of art– right before your eyes!   It is a technique that has allowed Floyd to realize his dream of being an artist, even though he could not draw.  What is conveyed to his audience is how one can come to realize one’s dreams through diligence, perseverance, hard work and not giving up.  His personal trek is an inspiration to every student as they set out on their own journey to catch a dream.

Floyd takes his audience with him in a slide show that relives the journey, the obstacles he confronted and the decisions he made  that brought him to success in New York and the world of children’s publishing.

In the “question and answer” portion of the program, the message is further brought home that to make dreams happen, “you don’t give up!”.

The program ends on a high note with a lively game of scribble, where the audience gets a crack at finding something in nothing.

The program lasts for approximately 45 minutes but is very flexible. It can be
adapted to any age group  from  grades K through 8 or higher. A day consists of three sessions, in either assembly or workshop format. Extra sessions can be negotiated. Half-day sessions can be accommodated when “school sharing” is necessary.  Evening programs cost extra.
Floyd prefers a schedule be sent to him before he arrives .
